Random Graphs in the Brain (workshop)

The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (NeuroMat) will hold the workshop “Random Graphs in the Brain” in São Paulo, from November 23 to 27, 2015. NeuroMat is hosted by the University of São Paulo and funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The event's official website is: neuromat.numec.prp.usp.br/rgbrain.

The main goal of the workshop is to discuss the mathematical, statistical and computational challenges that need to be addressed in order to achieve a deeper understanding of the brain. This will be an interdisciplinary workshop for scientists and students in experimental neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, functional imaging, probability, statistics and computer science.

This NeuroMat event is aimed to be an interdisciplinary workshop for scientists and students in experimental neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, functional imaging, probability, statistics and computer science. Antonio Galves (University of São Paulo), Remco van der Hofstad (Eindhoven University of Technology), Christophe Pouzat (Paris-Descartes University) and Claudia Vargas (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) chair the scientific committee of this NeuroMat event.

The workshop "Random Graphs in the Brain” will leave large places for thematic discussions involving all participants. Morning sessions will be dedicated to lessons on the state of the art on some of the basic fields involved: quantitative neuro-anatomy, cellular and network neurophysiology, stochastic modeling (statistical model selection, graph theory and stochastic processes). Thematic discussions will take place in the afternoons and the days activity will be concluded by a few invited talks.

The workshop will not receive external submissions, yet some external attendees may be accepted. If you are interested in attending, please send an email to rgbrain@numec.prp.usp.br. Your request will be replied to on a timely manner.

Live streaming will be provided here, and the resulting videos will be posted at the NeuroMat website.
