The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (RIDC NeuroMat) hosts the workshop "Mathematical and Simulation Modeling in Neuroscience," to be held on November 13 and 14, in São Paulo. This event has the support of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the University of São Paulo Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME/USP).
This event is an opportunity to discuss the research projects and to present the achievements and current results of the NeuroMat Simulation Laboratory (SimLab). It also intends to foster more interactions between NeuroMat's mathematical and computational modelers to work on the scientific direction that has oriented the RIDC team.
The workshop is organized as a setting for a general discussion on the NeuroMat SimLab research program, achievements and future activities. In particular, two challenging scientific questions will be debated: (1) how the analytical results obtained by NeuroMat researchers can be validated by simulations of large-scale neuronal networks? and (2) how the theoretical and simulation work conducted by NeuroMat can help to deepen the understanding of the relative influences of intrinsically and network-generated stochasticity on single neuron activity in the brain? The discussions will mostly be based on the description of NeuroMat's scientific research on its Statement of Impact.
Markus Diesmann, professor at Forschungszentrum Jülich and member of NeuroMat's International Advisory Board, is the workshop keynote speaker. The event scientific committee includes Antonio Carlos Roque, Antonio Galves and Jorge Stolfi.
The event's official website is: neuromat.numec.prp.usp.br/matsim.
The workshop will be transmitted and recorded. The resulting videos will be posted at the NeuroMat website. These are the URLs of the transmission:
The workshop will not receive external submissions but some external attendees may be accepted. If you are interested in attending, please send an email to neuromat@numec.prp.usp.br. We will reply to you as soon as possible.
The workshop will take place at the Multipurpose Auditorium at NeuroMat, Av Prof. Luciano Gualberto, 1171, University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil.
This NeuroMat event is supported by FAPESP and the University of São Paulo.
