The doctoral program in Statistics (Statistics and Probability) of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, University of São Paulo, Brazil, has 3 fellowships for a full time PhD student without master's degree. These are full fellowships for a period of 48 months, starting from February 2017. These positions are focused on research in probability theory and inference in stochastic processes with emphasis on stochastic modeling of neuron biological data. The student will be part of the research group: The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics, funded by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation). FAPESP’s Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (RIDC NeuroMat) has launched in September a network to promote the collaboration of patients, families and professionals health to face clinical and research challenges associated with Parkinson’s disease. This initiative is called Amparo in Portuguese and is coordinated by the NeuroMat investigator Maria Elisa Pimentel Piemonte, a physical therapist and professor at the University of Sao Paulo. She is the founder and a collaborator of the service of physiotherapy of the Brazilian Parkinson Association and the chair of the Allied Health Professionals and of the pan-american chapter of the do braço pan-americano da Movement Disorder Society of the Movement Disorder Society.
The Museum of Veterinary Anatomy, at the University of São Paulo, is currently relicensing all images so they can be uploaded to the open educational repository Wikimedia Commons. These images have had in August several hundred thousands views. This initiative was organized and supported by the NeuroMat scientific dissemination team.
